On Monday, December 5, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock signed a joint venture agreement between India and Germany. The agreement will make it easier for citizens of both countries to study and work in each other’s countries.
The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, was on a two-day trip to India. The German foreign minister arrived in Delhi on Monday morning and is scheduled to hold wide-ranging talks with her Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar.
Earlier this year, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, visited the capital city of Germany, Berlin. Even at that time, the two countries agreed on a migration and mobility partnership, which the respective governments hope will enable the “mutual mobility” of students, professionals, and researchers.
How will This Agreement benefit the Students?
One of the biggest outcomes of this pact will be that more and more students from both countries will apply to institutions in both nations. The migration and mobility agreement will be guaranteed between Indian and German universities at the university level so that Indian students may pursue joint degrees and dual degree programmes.
Many Indian students prefer Germany as their first option when it comes to studying abroad. Most of the government-funded universities are in Germany. The German government offers financial aid and other benefits to students.
Most Indian students come to Germany because of financial aid, lower tuition fees, and high-quality education. Not only Indian students but German students will also be benefited from this pact between the Indian government.
In May 2022, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India will make it easier for German students to enroll in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through initiatives like Study in India.
Agreement Between India And Germany
Indian students will have additional options to participate in research programmes in Germany because of the agreement between the two businesses that was inked on December 5. This agreement will support Germany’s and India’s initiatives to increase the internationalisation of higher education systems.
