Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central university established in 1920 Aligarh, the United Province (now UP). In 1935, the university was shifted to Okhla, Delhi, and in 1962, the UGC granted Jamia the status of a deemed university. The university is recognised by UGC and is approved by AICTE and NCTE.

The university has nine faculties with more than 36 departments within them and twenty-five centres offering courses at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels. Jamia is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A++’  grade and the NBA. NIRF has ranked Jamia 3rd for universities and 12th overall in the University Rankings 2023.

The flagship courses offered by Jamia are B.Tech., B.A., B.Sc., M.Sc., M.A., M.B.A., and Ph.D. Admission in these courses is done through the JMI entrance exam and national-level exams. The highest package recorded during the campus placement drive in 2023 was INR 25 LPA.

Entrance Exam

Jamia conducts the JMI Entrance Exam for various courses offered by it. It is an offline paper of one and a half hours, containing objective-type MCQs and Descriptive tests. The JMI Exam for Mass Communication is a 3-hour paper. The university accepts national-level exams like JEE Mains, CUET, CAT, and NEET.

Cut-off

Jamia releases the cutoff for various exams like the JMI Entrance Exam, CUET, JEE Mains, and a merit list based on the 12th examination. The scores of the JMI Entrance Exam are available on the university’s official website.

These cutoffs or merit lists are subject to factors like the number of seats, the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. A candidate must hold a set percentage in the 12th grade or equivalent examination.

JMI is one of the best universities in India recognized by the UGC and accredited by NAAC and NBA. NIRF has ranked the university 5th for Law, 6th for architecture, and 10th for dentistry in 2023. IIRF has ranked the university 51–193 for Engineering and 37–44 for Management in 2023.

• Click on the ‘Admission’ icon and apply for any course.
• Click on the “New Registration” icon, fill in your details, and sign up.
• Upload your photo and signature, and submit your application form.
• You will receive an email on the successful registration of the admission form.
• The email contains a Unique CODE with a link to verify the email account and log in (email ID) and password to access the account.
• On completion of verification, you can log in using the login ID and Password.
• Now apply for the program or programs of your choice.
• Submit the form after paying the application fees.
• Now download and print the application form for the admission process.

Application Fees

Candidates have to pay an application fee after filling out the application form to complete the registration process. Application fees are payable online using any method: Credit card, debit card, net banking, or online wallet.

Jamia Millia Islamia Scholarship 2023

JMI New Delhi has various scholarship plans for meritorious students belonging to financially weaker sections. The university lays down the eligibility criteria for students to avail these scholarships. The scholarships may include a fee waiver or a pocket allowance. Scholarships at JMI University are as follows:

• Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Scholarship – Reimbursement of the gross fee charged by the university, amounting to a maximum of Rs. 10,000 per student every year.
• M. F. H. BEG EDUCATION FUND (SCHOLARSHIP) – An amount of INR 10,000 or the gross annual fee per academic year, whichever is lower.
• Jamia Merit Scholarships – The scholarship is provided to top scorers in exams. 
• The Merit Scholarship of the Centre for Management Studies – is provided to full-time MBA students in I and II semesters.
• Scholarship for International Exchange Programme – offered by the Centre for Management Studies to students selected for the international exchange program

Jamia Millia Islamia Placement

The JMI campus placement drive, phase 1, has ended. In Phase 1, placements were offered to over 350 students. The highest package stood at INR 25 LPA, offered to an MBA student. International companies offered packages to MBA and B.Tech students ranging between INR 20 LPA and INR 25 LPA. The top recruiters for the 2023 placement drive are KPMG, Accenture, EXL, and DLF. In the 2022 placement drive, a total of 100 companies visited the university.
