NIT Kurukshetra: The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, commonly known as NIT Kurukshetra or NITKKR, is an autonomous public institute in Kurukshetra, Haryana. It was started in 1963 as a Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra (REC Kurukshetra) as a joint and cooperative enterprise of the Government of India and the State Government of Haryana.

The institute provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in various disciplines through 11 departments and four schools. NIRF has ranked the university 58th for engineering in 2023. The institute enjoys the status of national importance and the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The institute’s flagship course is B.Tech., offered through seven disciplines. A student must qualify for JEE Mains, a national-level exam, for admission to this flagship course. The highest package recorded in the 2022 placement was INR 125 CPA offered to a B.Tech. Electrical Engineering student.

The institute offers 48 courses at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels in the disciplines of engineering, management, technology, the humanities, and computer applications. Over 24 courses at the postgraduate level and 17 at the doctorate level are available for admission. M.Tech course is available in a full-time and part-time basis. MCA and M.Sc. courses are available in regular and self-financed formats.

Entrance Exam 

NIT Kurukshetra accepts students through various national-level entrance exams, followed by counseling for B.Tech., M.Tech., and M.Sc. The courses available at NIT Kurukshetra and the exam you need to qualify for are as follows:

Cut-off 

JoSAA announces the opening and closing ranks in NITKKR for B.Tech courses in different rounds through the JEE Mains score. CCMT declares the cutoff for M.Tech. and CCMN for M.Sc. These cutoffs are subject to the total number of seats available, the score or rank of the student, the total number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, etc.

How to Apply for NIT Kurukshetra 2023 

Students can refer to the steps given below to apply for the B.Tech. the course of their choice:

• Browse JEE Mains’ official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
• Register for JEE Mains and qualify for admission to NIT.
• The second step is to register for JOSAA counseling for choice-filling.
• Register for JoSAA with your JEE Main application number and password.
• Check the details, upload the required documents (JEE Mains scorecard, etc.), and submit the form.
• Now you have to fill in the names of the colleges of your choice and specializations according to the list of available options.
• JoSAA will release the details in different rounds; check for your rank.
• After document verification and fee payment, the next step is seat allotment and acceptance.
• Report to the institute on the stated date and pay the balance fee.

Application Fees

A student has to pay the application fees online for registration in JEE Mains. The application fee is compulsory, non-refundable, and payable through credit card, debit card, net banking, Paytm, or UPI.

NIT Kurukshetra Placement  

The campus placement statistics for 2022 recorded 1324 eligible students in UG and PG programs, out of which 1014 got jobs from companies. The number of students placed for B.Tech., M.Tech., MBA, and MCA stood at 632, 120, 25, and 75, respectively. The placement rate for the flagship B.Tech. course stood at 82.72%, and the highest package stood at INR 1.25 CPA. The median package recorded for B.Tech. was 10.92 and for PG. was 8.21.
