NIT Patna: National Institute of Technology Patna or NIT Patna is a public technical university in Patna, Bihar. The institute is India’s 6th oldest engineering institute and became an NIT in 2004. It was established in the year 1886 as a survey training school and later named Bihar School of Engineering and Bihar College of Engineering.

The institute consists of 10 departments that provide courses in various disciplines at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels. NIRF has ranked the university 56th for engineering and 19th for architecture in 2023. The institute has AICTE and COA approvals.

The institute offers B.Tech and B.Arch as its flagship courses at the undergraduate level. Admission to these courses is based on the national-level entrance exam, JEE Mains. NITP offers admission to all its courses on the basis of national-level exams. The highest package recorded for the year 2023 is INR 52 LPA.

The institute admits students in over 50 courses at UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses in the field of engineering, architecture, and science streams. The institute is ready to start a new five-year dual degree BTech+MTech program in Chemical Technology and MTech program in data science, engineering, and cyber security courses. Entrance Exam

National Institute of Technology Patna accepts entrance exams at the institute or national level for admission to all the courses. A student needs to give JEE Mains Paper 1 for B.Tech. and Paper 2 for B.Arch., followed by JoSAA counseling. The entrance exams accepted by the NITP are:

• B.E./B.Tech – JEE Mains + JOSAA Counseling/CSAB Counseling/DASA
• B.Arch – NATA/JEE Mains Paper 2
• M.E./M.Tech – GATE + CCMT Counseling.
• MURP – GATE + CCMT Counseling.
• M.Sc – IIT-JAM+CCMN Counseling.
• Ph.D. – UGC NET/GATE/JEST + PI.

Cut-off 

The cutoffs for different courses are the opening and closing ranks released by the concerned authority in different rounds. JoSAA releases these ranks for B.Tech and B.Arch courses through the JEE Mains score. CCMT releases the ranks for M.Tech., and MURP on the basis of GATE scores. CCMN is the authority that releases the cutoff for M.Sc. on the basis of IIT JAM.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework places the institute in the 101–150 rank band in the overall category in 2023. NIRF has ranked the institute 56th for engineering and 19th for architecture in 2023. NIT Patna Infrastructure

The old campus covers an area of 40 acres and is located in Ashok Rajpath, Patna, Bihar. The NIT Patna is provided with a new campus of 125 acres at Sikandarpur village in Bihta and is 40 km away from Patna. The Patna Junction Railway Station is the nearest railway station to the institute at a distance of 8 km from the institute and the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport is 20 km away from the institute.

The institute’s campus has all the infrastructural and basic amenities for students and faculty members. How to Apply for NIT Patna 2023 

JoSAA will allot the seat for B.Tech. courses on the basis of JEE Mains in different rounds. Here is a detailed explanation as to how you can apply at NIT Patna for the B.Tech course of your choice:

• You are to register for JEE Mains by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
• As admissions are based on JEE Mains result you have to qualify it with good marks.
• On clearing JEE Mains you must register for JOSAA counseling.
• JoSAA counseling is a choice filling round on the basis of the available list.
• To register for this round you need to use your JEE Mains application number and password.
• Fill in the details if required, and upload your JEE Mains scorecard and other necessary documents.
• Now you have to fill in your choice of college and the preferred specialization on the next page.
• The next step is seat allotment based on the opening and closing rank released by JoSAA for NIT Patna.
• Confirm and freeze your seat by paying the fee and move to the document verification round.
• Now you will have to reach NIT Patna and pay the remaining fees.

Application Fees

The application fee is a non-refundable and compulsory payment for registration in JEE Mains. A student needs to pay this amount online through a credit card/debit card/net banking/Paytm/UPI.

NIT Patna Scholarship 2023 

The institute offers scholarships from various national, state, private, and PSU authorities. These scholarship programs are for meritorious students on the basis of their achievements. The scholarship can be a fee waiver, concession, pocket allowance, or both. Minority-1, Ex-serviceman-1, SC-1, SC-3, SC-2, ST-2, GEN-1, BCE-1, etc are the name of some of the scholarships of NIT Patna. NIT Patna Placement  

The placement for NITP is in progress with the highest package standing at INR 52 LPA. The placement rate for campus placement 2023 stood at 76.57% and the total placements at 589. A total of 639 students received placement from 112 recruiters. The second highest package stood at INR 48 LPA and the average package at INR 13.30 LPA. The highest package has seen a drop of over 71% from the year 2022. the prominent recruiter of 2023 included CRED, Google, Adobe, Oracle, Phone Pe, etc.
