NIT Raipur: National Institute of Technology, Raipur or commonly known as NIT Raipur or NITRR is one of the NIT with INI status under the government of India. The institute was established in 1956 as Government Engineering College with two courses in the capital of Chhattisgarh. It is the second oldest NIT and provides courses in technical education, training, and research.

The institute offers over 30 courses through its 19 departments at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The National Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked the institute 70th in engineering in 2023. The institute is the number one engineering college in Chhattisgarh.

The flagship course of the institute is B.Tech in which admission is based on the results of JEE Mains followed by JoSAA counseling. The institute offers admission to other courses through entrance exams. The average package in NITRR stood at INR 10.10 LPA for the year 2022.

The institute offers 12 undergraduate, 11 postgraduate and 18 Ph.D programs in the field of engineering, architecture, computer application, science, humanities, social sciences and technology. Entrance Exam 

NITs accept scores of national-level entrance exams for admission to the courses offered by them. A student needs to clear JEE Mains for B.Tech and JEE Mains paper 2 for B.Arch. Here is the list of courses and the entrance exam one needs to qualify for admission to NITRR:

Cut-off 

JoSAA releases the cutoff for B.Tech and B.Arch courses in different rounds and 2 CSAB special rounds through the ranks/marks of JEE Mains. COAP releases the rank for M.Tech on the basis of GATE score and CCMN for M.Sc on the basis of IIT-JAM score. These cutoffs depend on the factors like the number of seats, number of applicants, marks obtained by the student, difficulty level of the exam, etc.

NIT Raipur Ranking & Accreditation

The institute is one of the oldest NIT in India and has approvals from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA). The institute enjoys the Institute of National Importance status and aims to become the center of technological knowledge to develop human resources. The NIRF has ranked NITRR in the 101-150 band in its overall category and 70th in engineering in 2018. Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) has ranked the Institute 50th out of 193 colleges for engineering and 22nd out of 30 colleges for architecture in India in 2023.

The campus of NITRR covers an area of 100 acres and is located on G.E Road, Raipur the capital of Chhattisgarh. The major modes of transport are at the disposal of NIT Raipur. The nearest railway station is Raipur Railway Station which is 5 km away. Swami Vivekananda International Airport is the nearest airport and is at a distance of 12 km from the center. The Great Eastern Road or NH-6 is at a distance of 14 km from the campus. 

The campus is one of the biggest technical institutions in Chhattisgarh and has all the infrastructural and basic facilities for its students and staff. How to Apply for NIT Raipur 2023 

NIT Raipur admits students for B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses through JoSAA counseling according to the scores of JEE Mains. A student must sit and qualify with good scores in the JEE Mains to be able to study at the NIT of their choice and preferred course. The details regarding the steps you need to follow to apply for the B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses are as follows:

• Visit and register for JEE Mains through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
• Now appear for JEE Mains for B.Tech. and JEE Mains Paper 2 for B.Arch. and qualify them.
• The next step is JOSAA counseling to fill in your choice.
• You have to register using the JEE Main application number and password.
• Provide the necessary information and upload other documents along with the JEE Mains scorecard.
• The next step is to fill in the names of the colleges from the available list and the preferred branch or discipline.
• On the declaration of ranks for NITs in different rounds, look for your name or rank.
• In the JoSAA counseling for seat allocation, you have to pay the admission fees to freeze your seat at NITRR if you make it to the cutoff list.
• Verification of the documents is the final step after this, you are to report to the institute and pay the balance fee.

Application Fees

The application fee is a non-refundable and compulsory payment for registration in JEE Mains. A student needs to pay this amount online through a credit card/debit card/net banking/Paytm/UPI.

NIT Raipur Scholarship 2023   

The institute has designed various scholarship programs and accepts various national, state, PSU, and private-sponsored scholarships. These financial aid are subject to the achievements of the students from economically weaker sections and are a fee waiver, fee concession, or pocket allowance. The institute offers merit cum means-based scholarships and for other scholarships, a student can go through the national scholarship portal website.   

NIT Raipur Placement   

The records of campus placement of 2022 for the highest salary are not available. The campus placement in 2022 recorded 738 offers from 101 companies. Out of the total offers 649 were for B.Tech courses and 65 for MCA. The average package recorded a 4% increase from 2021 and stood at INR 10.10 LPA. There was an increase of 10% in the number of companies that visited the campus from 2021 to 2022 and an increase of 23% in the number of offers. Some of the prominent recruiters of 2022 were Wipro, Capgemini, Infosys, Adobe, Aditya Birla Group, Info Edge, etc.
