When we heard about the remake is being made in Bollywood, it doesn’t sound new to us anymore because, Bollywood is making more remakes than the original content. There are many Bollywood movies that are the remakes of major South Indian hits and now, after seeing the success of multiple record-breaking South Indian films like Baahubali, KGF, RRR, Pushpa: The Rise, Bollywood is going to be produced more and more remakes.
But, do you know that Bollywood has not only been producing the remake of popular South films but it in the past hade also remade many of its own films. Yes, you heard it right!, the classic films like Umrao Jaan, Chasme Baddoor, Agneepath, Don, Himmatwala, Devdas and among many others that were remade again by the industry.
Indeed, old is gold, but when you do it right- it could become platinum too, and the remakes of Agneepath, Don and Devdas are the perfect example of it. Soon, we are going to witness another remake of Bollywood’s most iconic drama film Anand (1971) which starred Amitabh Bachchan and late legendary star Rajesh Khanna.
Star Cast
The Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan starrer also featured Sumita Sanyal, Ramesh Deo, Seema Deo, Lalita Pawar, Durga Khote, Johny Walker, Asit Sen, Dara Singh etc.
Talking about the remake, it is still in the scripting stage and the star cast and the director is yet to be finalised by its makers. Soon we will get to know who are going reprise the roles of legendary megastar duo.
Makers
The original masterpiece was made by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, who was regarded as one of the greatest filmmaker of that time and delivered many superhit films like Anupama, Guddi, Gol Maal, Bawarchi, Namak Haraam etc.
The iconic dialogues of the film like “Babumoshai! Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahi”, were written by Gulzar and it was produced by N.C. Sippy, whose grandson Sameer Raj Sippy of 2016 romantic drama musical film Ishq Forever fame along with Vikram Khakar.
Anand Remake Announcement
The makers has announced the official remake of the multiple award winning film on Thursday, May 19, 2021, Not much has been revealed about the film yet except its producers.
Popular critic Taran Adarsh also shared the post regarding announcement of the film along with some pictures featuring the both of the producers smiling and in the background we can see the posters of the original film on the wall.
