Prominent Bengali singer Anup Ghoshal who was mostly known for the song ‘Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi’ number from the 1983 film ‘Masoom’ passed away at the age of 77. He had been under medical care for an extended period at a private hospital in south Kolkata, receiving treatment.
Renowned as a playback singer, he had notable connections with Satyajit Ray’s films, including ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne and ‘Hirak Rajar Deshe.’ Ghoshal showcased his musical prowess in the compositions of Kazi Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore, and contemporary Bengali songs.

Ghoshal was sick for a long time and was dealing with age-related ailments. Unfortunately, he passed away on December 15 at 1:40 p.m. due to a multi-organ failure.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee, condoled the death of the longtime singer. She said, “I express my deep grief and condolences over the death of Anup Ghosal, who had sung in Bengali, Hindi, and other languages.”

Anup Ghoshal was born to Amulya Chandra Ghoshal and Labanya Ghoshal, Anup Ghoshal received early encouragement for his singing from his mother. At the age of 4, she arranged for his musical training.
His inaugural performance occurred shortly thereafter when he sang for a children’s program, Shishu Mahal, broadcasted on All India Radio, Kolkata. Ghoshal completed his undergraduate studies in Humanities at Asutosh College, Kolkata, and later earned a Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Rabindra Bharati University.
