Written by Steve Purcell, Cars on the Road is an upcoming American computer-animated series which is based on the Car franchise, which in the past have delivered 3 films- Cars (2006), Cars 2 (2011), Cars 3 (2017) as well as two series- Cars Toons’ Mater’s Tall Tales (2008-12) and Cars Toons: Tales from Radiator Springs (2013-14).
Purcell has also directed some episodes of the upcoming series. Along with him, Bobby Podesta and Car 3 director Brian Fee are also directing some episodes. The series is backed by Marc Sondheimer.
Cars on the Road Voice Cast
Actors Owen Wilson and Daniel Lawerence Whitney, known professionally by his persona Larry the Cable Guy are reprising their voice roles as Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater, respectively, from the Car franchise.
Talking about Wilson, he gave his voice in animated movies such as Fantastic Mr. Fox, Marmaduke, and Free birds whereas Larry the Cable Guy has starred in three Blue Collar comedy-Tour related films, as well as Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Delta Farce and Witless Protection etc.
Apart from both of them, the upcoming series also stars Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, Cheech Marin as Romane, Lloyd Sherr as Fillmore and Quinta Brunson as Ivy.
It is said that the series will explore new locations as well as new characters. In addition to the already established characters from the franchise, characters from Cars spin-off films Planes (2013) and Planes: Fire & Rescue (2014) will also appear in the upcoming series.
Cars on the Road OTT Release Date
The makers of the series have finally released its release date. It is now confirmed that Car on the Road will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus on Disney Plus Day, which is September 8, 2022. The animated series will comprise 9 parts and will take us to experience the fun with McQueen and Mater.
Different episodes will feature different scenarios and challenges for the two cars, such as being chased by dinosaur-like cars. So don’t forget to save the date, so you could enjoy the show on the mentioned date.

Car on the Road Trailer Out
The trailer of the series has already been released. The 2-minute long trailer offers a first-look at anthropomorphic cars Lightning McQueen and Mater embarking on yet another adventure. The series follows these cars on an epic cross- country road trip across the United States as they journey eastwards to attend the wedding of Mater’s sister.
