Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has announced her new project and it has added a new biopic to her filmography. The actress will soon be seen in the new film titled Noti Binodini, based on Bengali theatre artist Binodini Dasi of the 19th century, also known as Noti Binodiini or Notee Binodini.
The four-time national award-winning actress was previously seen as the late Tamil Nadu politician J. Jayalalithaa in her biopic Thalaivii, for which she also won the Best Actress Award at the recently concluded SIIMA Awards 2022.
The actress is currently shooting for the film Emergency, which features her as India’s powerful politician and former Prime Minster, Indira Gandhi. She herself is directing the film, which marks her second directorial venture after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
She is now all set to play theatre legend Noti Bindoni in the upcoming film. Another (Bengali) film is also being made on the life of Noti Binodini , titled Binodiini, which is directed by internationally acclaimed director Ram Kamal Mukherjee and stars Bengali diva Rukmini Maitra in the titular role.

Noti Binodini Cast & Crew
The film will be directed by Pradeep Sarkar, known for directing movies like Parineeta and Mardaani, while it will be written by Prakash Kapadia, who previously wrote movies like Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Black, Padmaavat, and Bajirao Mastani, among others.
Apart from Kangana Ranaut, no information about the rest of the star cast has been released. The film marks the first collaboration between the “Queen” actress and director Pradeep Sarkar.
About the Film
The film is based on Bengal theatre legend Bindoni Das, who was born in 1863 into a family of sex workers. She started doing theatre at the age of 12. Despite having a short career span of around 11 years, Binodini brought a revolution to the theatre world. She emerged as a great example for women in theatre and also introduced modern make-up techniques.
