Based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, Pirates of the Caribbean film series is set to go on floors with its most-awaited sixth installment following the 5 superhit films. The franchise has grossed over USD 4.5 billion worldwide.
The series started in 2003 with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which received positive response from the public and grossed USD 654 million worldwide. After the success of their first film, Walt Disney announced that a film series is in work.
Three years after the first film was released, the makers delivered another installment titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest in 2006 following Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End in 2007, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 2011 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales 2017.

Is Dwayne Johnson going to Replace Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
We’re sure that most of us have indeed watched the Pirates of the Caribbean film series over the years and while growing up the main lead of the series Hollywood star Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow has been one of the most loved characters since childhood.
In all of the fifth installments, he entertained us all portraying Captain Jack Sparrow and we can’t even think of another actor portraying that character, right? But as per recent buzz, American superstar and professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, popularly known by his ring name The Rock is likely to replace Depp in the upcoming film.
As the rumours are flying about Johnson replacing Depp, fans are showing their outrage on social media and are demanding Johnny back for his iconic role, calling it the best role of his career.
Why was Depp sacked from the Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
After the release of the fifth installment of the film series, fans were looking forward to seeing Depp in his iconic character, however, Disney decided to go in a different way after Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard published an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 accusing Depp of domestic violence.
As Depp won the defamation trial against Heard, the fans of the film series were in a hope that they will witness him reprising his role, but got disappointed over the rumours of Johnson replacing Johny.
Cast & Crew
Director Joachim Running, who helmed the sixth film of the film series is set to return back to as the director for the upcoming film, with the story written by Ted Elliott as well as Craig Mazin, who also wrote the film’s story.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the film’s star cast has not been revealed yet. Reportedly, Margot Robbie, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley are being considered to join the cast with Depp being replaced by Johnson (reportedly).
