Directed by veteran actress Revathi, Salaam Venky is a Hindi drama film that is based on the book ‘The Last Hurrah’ by Shrikant Murthy, with the screenplay and dialogues penned by Sammeer Arora and Kausar Munir.
The film is the 5th directorial venture of Revathy after Mitr, My Friend; Phir Milenge, Kerala Cafe and Mumbai Cutting. With this film, the veteran actress is making her comeback in direction after 12 long years. The film was announced on October 7, 2021, and shooting began on February 11, 2022, in Mumbai, released on 5th Dec 2022, one of best movies of 2022.

The film stars Kajol in the lead role as Sujata. She was last seen in the family drama film Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy, which is directed by Renuka Shahane and was released directly on Netflix in 2021. Her last hit was Tanhaji, in which she played Savitri Bai.
Young actor Vishal Jethwa is playing as Venkatesh, in the film. He has previously appeared in movies like Darr @ the Mall, Hindi Medium, Mardaani 2, Golkeri, etc. Along with them, the film also stars Aahana Kumra, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Anant Mahadevan in key roles.
Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, made a special cameo appearance in the Revathy directorial.

On November 10, 2022, the makers of the film released the first look poster of the film along with its release date. The poster features Kajol donning a beautiful red saree, pushing a wheelchair on which Vishal is sitting with a bag full of vegetables. Both of them have a big smile on their faces.
The poster also reads, “Zindagi Lambi Nahi Badi Honi Chahiye.” Kajol also shared the poster on social media with the caption “Ek Badi Zindagi Ka Bada Celebration is About to Begin.” The family drama had theatrical release on December 9, 2022.
OTT audience will watch this film from 10th Feb, 2023 only on Zee5.
