Then he came with super hit Main Awara Hoon (1983) after which he faced a few failures but Naam (1986 film) brought a turning point in his life, the film received so much appreciation and the actor became the lead Bollywood actor of that era.

After delivering back-to-back hits and powerful performances in Kabzaa (1988), Hathyar (1989), Saajan (1992), Khal Nayak (1994), Vaastav: The Reality (2001), Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2004), Parineeta (2006).

In 1993, this most loved actor was accused of involvement in a series of serial bombings in Mumbai. On 25 February 2016, the actor was released after completing 5 years of the sentence and first signed Omung Kumar’s Hindi Drama Bhoomi.
