New Title Announced on Kiara’s Birthday
The film was announced in June last year titled Satyanarayan Ki Katha. However, a few days after the announcement, the makers decided to change it to avoid hurting religious sentiments, as Satyanarayan is the other name of the Hindu God Vishnu.
The initial title witnessed outrage on social media. Also, in Madhya Pradesh, a Hindu organization “Sanskriti Bachao Manch”, submitted a memorandum to register a criminal against its producer.
On July 31, 2022, the day on which the film’s lead Kiara Advani celebrated her 30th day, the marks announced the new title of the film as “Satyaprem Ki Katha”. Actor Kartik Aryan wished her a Happy birthday by sharing a motion poster featuring him along with his co-star Kiara. A whistling sound can also be heard in the background.

The film is backed by Bollywood filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, a production house known for producing acclaimed films such as Heropanti, Hey Babyy, 2 States, Tamasha, Super 30, Highway, and the Housefull franchise.
The most recent films that the production house produced is Akshay Kumar starrer Bachchan Pandey and Tiger Shroff starrer Heropanti 2. Actor Salman Khan’s highly-talked-about film Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali is also being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s NGE.
Satyaprem Ki Katha is directed by Sameer Vidwans, the filmmaker who helmed National Award-winning 2019 Marathi biographical drama film, Anandi Gopal.
