Hollywood’s acclaimed action thriller film franchise The Expendables is set to come up with its fourth installment “The Expendables 4”, which is directed by Scott Waugh, with a script co-written by Spencer Cohen and Max Adams, from an original story by Cohen.
The film series consisted of four films- The Expendables, which was released in 2010, The Expendables 2 (2012), The Expendables 3 (2014) and the upcoming film The Expendables 4, which will be released in 2023, after a huge 9-years gap from the released of the last one. Along with 4 films, the franchise also includes an ongoing comic book series- The Expendables Go to Hell.
The Expendables 4 Star Cast
The film marks the comeback of Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone in his role as Barney Ross- the leader of The Expendables. The actor also confirmed that the film would be his final appearance as Barney Ross with Jason Statham expecting to take over the series after his departure.
Statham will also reprise his role as Lee Christmas- The Team’s knife expert. Dolph Lundgren is playing Gunner Jensen whereas Randy Couture is the team’s demolition expert- Toll Road.
Other than these stars, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, Sheila Shah, and Eddie Hall have been cast in undisclosed roles. Iko Uwais has been cast as the lead villain while Andy Gracia plays a CIA agent.
The Expendables 4 Release Date
The film is all set to be released theatrically in 2023 and it will be distributed by film production and distributing studio Lionsgate Films. On September 22, 2023, much awaited The Expendables is going to be released in the USA, India, and other countries.
About the Film
The Scott Waugh directorial depicts a nuclear conflict between Russia and the United States that The Expendables are drawn into. In the upcoming film, The Expendables will square up against an arms dealer who commands the might of a massive private army.
The filming officially commenced in September 2021. The film was shot in London, Bulgaria and the Jackie Chan Stunt Team handled stunt choreography.
In October 2021, Stallone announced on social media that he had finished filming his scene for the movie. The same year in December, the team announced that the filming had wrapped. It is now currently under post-production work. The film is backed by Statham, Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, Kevin King- Templeton, and Avi Lerner under the banners of Vertice Cine and Millennium Media.
