The legendary Indian music composer, singer, and songwriter A.R. Rahman’s eldest daughter Khatija Rahman is the Talk of the Town nowadays.
On Sunday, January 2, 2022, she posted a photo collage on social media wearing a beautiful pink outfit with a matching pink mask and informed everyone about her engagement.
Although she didn’t share the engagement day photo of her fiance, instead she shared a photo collage in her engagement-day attire and a black and white photo of her groom-to-be.
She took to social media and tweeted “With the blessing of almighty I am Happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer. The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones.”
After posting this, her social media posts flooded with well-wishes with celebrities congratulating her mostly from the music fraternity.
Many Bollywood singers congratulate the couple such as Harshdeep Kaur and Neeti Mohan and others.
About Khatija Rahman
Khatija, the eldest one among the three children of A.R. Rahman and Saira Banu, is also a singer and music composer like her father.
She made her music debut with S. Shankar’s 2019 Tamil Science fiction film Enthiran. It was the Tamil version of Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai starrer Robot, which was released on October 1, 2010.
She was just 14 when she sang the song “O Maramanishi/Puthiya Manidha” along with eminent singer S.P. Balasubramanyan in her Debut in Enthiran and her father A.R. Rahman composed the music for that movie.
She also sang Hindi song “Rock A By Baby” in Laxman Utekar’s Bollywood movie Mimi, where Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi played the lead roles.
She also performed with her father in 2019 when the famous Irish Band U2’s concert was held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Controversy Regarding Khatija Rahman
On Feb 11, 2020, the famous Bangladeshi writer and activist, who is also known for her controversial tweets took to social media and posted a photo of Khatija Rahman in which she was wearing a Niqab.
She posted the photo with the tweet “I absolutely love A.R. Rahman’s music. But whenever I see his daughter, I feel suffocated. It is really depressing to learn that even educated women in a cultural family can get brainwashed very easily! ”
This tweet of Nasreen spread like wildfire and different people gave their opinion regarding this issue. Finally Khatija gave her reply with decency and respect to Nasreen.
She said that she is proud of what she wears or does and she will not regret the choices she has made.
Many times her father is targeted for her wearing a Niqab. Although in many interviews she as well as her father have clarified that in their family there is an absolute freedom for women.
They further said that in their family women do or wear what they want to, and it is completely their choice. Noone imposes their will on the women of the family.
