A few days ago, a student protest erupted in Uttaranchal University, demanding justice for the victim, who is the female warden of the hostel. The angry students also tried to block the Dehradun-Ponta National Highway in Dehradun’s Prem Nagar. However, the police somehow managed to handle the situation.
It is also said that the female warden complained about this incident to the university’s management. After the mass protest when this issue came into the limelight, various media houses talked to the Vice Chancellor of the Collected, Rajesh Bahuguna.
Clarification from VC Rajesh Bahuguna
Speaking to the media, Bahuguna said that the accused male warden has already been suspended and that a committee to investigate the incident has also been set up. The college authorities have taken strict action in this matter.
As per Inspector Pradeep Bisht, who is the station house officer of Prem Nagar Police Station, the victim registered the complaint against the accused on Sunday. Based on her complaint, a case was registered against him, and he was booked under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.
The University Authority has been cooperating with the Police and the victim, and all the necessary actions have been taken. The matter is under investigation.
