International Youth Day is celebrated on 12 August every year. This day is celebrated to raise awareness regarding issues that are faced by the world’s youth.
The important purpose of this day is to raise voices against any injustice or discrimination happening in the world with the youth as they are most important to build a nation stronger and more powerful.
International Youth Day History
International Youth Day was recognized by the United Nations when they passed a resolution towards creating it in 1999 at the United Nations General Assembly. This day came into existence with the recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers and they are Responsible that 12th August was declared as International Youth Day.
There was a need for this day because a very large amount of youth in the world is struggling with issues related to Physical or Mental health, education, and employment and thus all these issues need to be addressed.
When the government or society does not focus on the proper development of the youth, they tend to become rebellious and many times they can opt for choices that are neither good for their development nor for their country.

International Youth Day 2023 Theme
Every year International Youth Day is celebrated on the 12th of August and the theme of this year’s International Youth Day is “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, last year’s (2022) theme was “Intergenerational Solidarity: creating a World for All Ages”.

The purpose is to spread the message that action is needed from all generations to achieve the Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs and leave no one behind.
