World Photography day is observed every year on 19th of August. This day is the celebration of Photography’s history and tremendous growth in current photographic trends. This day is important because it is a celebration of stories captured in a photograph.
History of World Photography Day
In the year 1837, a photographic process was developed by Frenchmen named Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce and they named the process ‘Daguerreotype.’
Daguerreotype was an immediate success that provided a relatively inexpensive and accurate way of representing scenes and faces, earlier which had to be drawn or painted by hand. In just no time photographic studios had popped up all across the world.
On January 9, 1839, the French Academy of Sciences announced this process, and later the government of France purchased the patent for the invention and gave it as a gift, “free to the world.” and the first durable coloured photograph was taken in the year 1861.

World Photography Day Significance & Theme
World Photography Day has a huge significance because this is a day specially dedicated to photography. A picture can capture hundreds of emotions and moments, with passage of time every photographer develops their style and understands their niche.
Photography can capture expressions, feelings, ideas, and moments instantly and memorialise them for future generations to witness. Photography has played a significant role throughout human history, today we know how people looked 100 years ago, because all those historic moments have been captured in the photographs and can be looked at forever.
Today we all have cameras in our Phones and we don’t realise how magical this thing is. We can capture each and every moment and it will be immortalised for generations.
