Former Indian cricketer Anmol Muzumdar has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. BCCI released a statement in which they announced that Muzumdar has been named for the position that was vacant as of December 2022.
Before Muzumdar it was Ramesh Powar who was the head coach of the women’s cricket team. Powar was unceremoniously fired as part of the BCCI’s “restructuring module” before Muzumdar took office.
After ending his 21-year first-class career, in which he rose to become one of the Ranji Trophy’s top run scorers, Muzumdar has been a working coach.
Who is Amol Muzumdar?

Amol Muzumdar is a former Indian Cricketer, he was born on November 11, 1974. Muzumdar did his schooling at B.P.M. High School before transferring to Sharadashram Vidyamandir School as requested by Ramakant Achrekar, his coach.
Amol was one the best domestic players but despite his amazing performances and records, he never got a chance to play for Team India. Amol Mazumdar said, “This is a huge responsibility and I look forward to working closely with talented players and providing them with the right preparation and guidance to excel.”

Amol Muzumdar Cricket Career
Mazumdar made his first class debut in 1993-94 and he scored 260 runs agianst Haryana during a Ranji Trophy match. Until Ajay Rohera broke it in December 2018, he held the record for the most first-class cricket debut by any player worldwide.
In first-class cricket, Muzumdar represented Mumbai from 1993–1994 to 2008–09 and Assam and Andhra from 2009–10 to 2013–14. Even though he was one of the greatest players ever, he was never given the opportunity to play for India because he began playing during the heyday of giants like Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly.
Nevertheless, Mazumdar was named batting coach for the Indian cricket teams under-19 and under-23. The Netherlands cricket team hired Mazumdar as a batting consultant in December 2013.
Mazumdar began his IPL career in 2018 when he was hired by the Rajasthan Royals to serve as their batting coach for three seasons (2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20). Muzumdar continued to work with the Rajasthan Royals as of 2021.
He was brought on board to serve as the national cricket team’s acting batting coach during their tour of India. Muzumdar led the Mumbai team as head coach before being named head coach of the Indian women’s cricket team.
