The former cricketer, Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman, is currently the head of the NCA (National Cricket Academy) and the under-19 Indian cricket team. He is in talks these days, as it was recently reported that he will be the new coach for the Indian Cricket Team.
According to the BCCI, the current head coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid, is no longer interested in extending his contract as the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, so he will be replaced by VVS Laxman. He has recently traveled to Ahmedabad to meet the BCCI team in regard to the matter. It is widely expected that he will sign a long-term contract as the Team India coach.
Who is VVS Laxman?
The former cricketer, VVS Laxman, was born on November 1, 1974, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, and presently he is 49 years old. He is the great-grandnephew of India’s second president, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Laxman’s parents, Shantaram and Satyabhama, are physicians in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his schooling at Little Flower High School, Hyderabad. Later, he was admitted to a medical school to pursue his undergraduate degree, but he chose cricket as a career.

VVS made his Under-19 debut in 1994 against Australia, and later in 1996, he made his test debut against South Africa. He scored his first century against Australia and has a record of scoring 10 centuries against the same team.
Apart from this, VVS has earned various achievements, including being the only fifth man to hold the record for scoring back-to-back fifties in eight consecutive matches (tests, T20Is, and ODIs combined). VVS played his last match on January 24, 2012, against Australia, and in August 2012, he announced his retirement from international cricket.
