Preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections are in full swing. The Election Commission of India has unveiled the dates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled to occur in seven phases commencing from April 26.
Simultaneously, political parties are intensifying their efforts for the impending elections, releasing lists of candidates set to contest. However, the spotlight remains on numerous celebrities who are slated to participate in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
So here’s the list of celebrities that will be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024:
Kangana Ranaut
There were speculations that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut might contest the elections, but nobody knew that it was going to be this early. Kangana Ranaut will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. She got the ticket from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
Arun Govil
Arun Govil, widely recognized for portraying the role of Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, will be participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. He has secured the ticket from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Hema Malini
The seasoned actress Hema Malini, who has ventured into politics, will be running for the BJP ticket from the Mathura Constituency. Since 2014, she has been the incumbent representative for Mathura and currently serves as a Member of Parliament.
Shatrughan Sinha
Veteran Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha is set to contest the upcoming elections from Asansol, West Bengal, representing the Trinamool Congress. Previously, he served as a Member of Parliament for the Lok Sabha constituency of Patna Sahib from 2009 to 2019.
Additionally, Shatrughan Sinha has a rich history in parliamentary roles, having been a Member of Parliament for the Rajya Sabha from 1996 to 2008. He also held ministerial positions, serving as the Union Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Shipping during the tenure of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Ravi Kishan
The renowned actor, also known as Bhojpuri star Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla, or Ravi Kishan, is gearing up to contest from Gorakhpur, which has long been regarded as the bastion of Yogi Adityanath, for the second time. Ravi Kishan emerged victorious in 2019, clinching the seat that was previously held by the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh until 2017.
Manoj Tiwari
The renowned Bhojpuri singer-actor, Manoj Tiwari, is currently serving his second term as a Member of Parliament from North East Delhi and is set to contest from the same constituency for the third consecutive time, representing the BJP. In the 2019 elections, he secured victory with a significant margin, defeating the former Delhi Chief Minister and Congress candidate, Sheila Dikshit.
He initiated his political journey by contesting his first Lok Sabha election as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party from Gorakhpur in 2009, where he competed against the present Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, albeit unsuccessfully.
Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua
Dinesh Lal Yadav, famously recognized as Nirahua, will be running for the Azamgarh constituency in Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket. His political journey began in 2019 when the Bharatiya Janata Party nominated him to contest the Indian Lok Sabha elections. In the same year, he contested against Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, but unfortunately, faced defeat.
Yusuf Pathan
Yusuf Pathan, the ex-cricketer, is set to enter the political arena by contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Baharampore, West Bengal, representing the Trinamool Congress. This marks his inaugural foray into electoral politics following a distinguished cricket career.
Devendra Jhajaria
The Indian Paralympic javelin thrower is set to run for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on a BJP ticket from Churu, Rajasthan. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian Paralympic athlete to secure two gold medals at the Paralympics. His initial gold medal triumph occurred in the javelin throw event at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, marking him as the second gold medalist at the Paralympics for India.
Suresh Gopi
Suresh Gopi, a renowned Malayalam actor, and BJP candidate, is set to contest from the Thrissur constituency. His work primarily spans Malayalam cinema, although he has also made appearances in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Bollywood films.
In April 29, 2016, Suresh Gopi took oath as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha, nominated by the President of India under the eminent citizens’ category, as outlined in Article 80 of the Indian Constitution.
By October 2016, Suresh was officially affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He stood as the BJP candidate for the Thrissur constituency in the 2019 Indian general election held in Kerala.
