A startling incident has surfaced in Hyderabad, leading to the arrest of a businesswoman accused of stalking and kidnapping a television anchor. The woman’s actions stemmed from being allegedly deceived by an impostor posing as the anchor, who absconded with her money.
Almost two years ago, the woman initially encountered an individual named Chaitanya Reddy on the Bharat Matrimony website. As their communication progressed, they transitioned to chatting via WhatsApp and Instagram.
At one juncture, the man solicited investment in his business, promising lucrative returns. According to police, she purportedly transferred Rs 40 lakh to the individual via UPI.
However, after receiving the funds, the woman asserted that the individual began evading her. Upon realizing she had been cheated, she contacted the phone number listed on the profile, which belonged to Pranav, the television anchor.
Who is Trisha Bhogireddy?
Trisha Bhogireddy, the Managing Director of five startup companies, orchestrated the abduction of television anchor Pranav Sistla. This came after she fell victim to a scam worth Rs 40 lakh perpetrated by an unknown individual who had used Pranav’s photo on a matrimonial site profile.
The Telangana Police arrested Trisha, a 31-year-old woman who operates a digital marketing company, along with five accomplices on February 22nd.
How did Trisha kidnap Pranav?
Upon realizing Trisha Bhogireddy had been deceived, the woman reached out to the phone number listed on the profile, only to discover it belonged to Pranav. He disclosed that an individual named Chaitanya Reddy had appropriated his photo and fabricated accounts on Bharat Matrimony, prompting him to file a complaint with the cyber cell.
After blocking her number, Pranav thought the matter was settled. However, the woman, who police described as an “intimacy-seeking stalker,” devised a plan to abduct Pranav in an attempt to “resolve things.”
She recruited a colleague from her office for the scheme, offering him Rs 50,000. He installed an Apple AirTag on Pranav’s vehicle to track his movements. On February 11, a group orchestrated by the businesswoman kidnapped Pranav and transported him to her office, where they subjected him to assault. Pranav, as per police accounts, negotiated with the woman, promising to respond to her calls, and ultimately managed to flee.
