Gita Mehta, an eminent author and sister of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik died at the age of 80. Apart from being an author was a renowned documentary filmmaker, and journalist as well.
Gita was the elder sister of CM Naveen Patnaik and as per sources she was very close to her brother. She has penned books including ‘Karma Cola’, ‘Snake and Ladders’, ‘A River Sutra’, ‘Raj’ and ‘The Eternal Ganesha’.

About Gita Mehta

Biju and Gyan Patnaik welcomed her into the world in Delhi in 1943. Her younger brother, Naveen Patnaik, is the chief minister of Gita, and her father, Bihu Patnaik, was a well-known figure in the Biju Janata Dal. She received her education in India as well as at Cambridge University in the UK.
For US, UK, and European networks, she has produced and directed at least 14 television documentaries. She worked as a television reporter for the NBC television network in the US.
