Atishi, Delhi’s Finance Minister, unveiled a new initiative aimed at advancing and uplifting women in the city. Beginning with the fiscal year 2024–2025, the Delhi government will give Rs. 1000 to all women who are over the age of 18, as part of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.
The scheme was announced during the first budget speech. FM Atishi said the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana will benefit all women aged above 18, and the Delhi government has allocated Rs. 2000 crore in the budget for this initiative.
“Every woman above the age of 18 will be eligible to receive an honorarium of Rs 1,000 per month under this scheme,” Atishi stated. Thus, they will no longer need to ask for money from anyone to cover their expenses because their brother Arvind Kejriwal will give them Rs 1,000 every month, regardless of whether they are a woman wanting to watch a movie in a theater, a daughter studying in college in need of additional books, or a daughter getting ready for a government job in need of coaching.”
Eligibility for Mahila Samman Yojana
To get the benefits of the Mahila Samman Yojana, the beneficiaries have to meet certain eligibility criteria. All the women who meet all the eligibility criteria will be provided with a monthly assistance of Rs 1,000. Also, women who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not benefit from the scheme.
Women seeking to access the benefits of this scheme must not be government employees, taxpayers, or recipients of a pension or assistance under any scheme provided by the Delhi government. Atishi, the Finance Minister of Delhi, affirmed that any eligible woman in Delhi can apply for the program next year.
