A disturbing event has rocked the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, involving the tragic deaths of two young boys named Aayush and Ahaan, who were fatally wounded by a sharp-edged knife. These boys resided in Baba Colony within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station in Badaun.
The unfortunate incident occurred while the boys were playing with their brother, Piyush, on the third floor of their residence. The primary suspect, Sajid, reportedly visited their home around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victims’ father, Vinod Singh, works as a contractor, while their mother, Sangeeta, operates a beauty parlor. During the incident, Vinod Singh had gone to the market, and Sangeeta was attending to her clients at the beauty parlor.
At the time of the attack, the brothers were in the company of their grandmother. While the grandmother was occupied in the kitchen, Sajid ascended to the third floor and viciously assaulted the boys with a sharp weapon, resulting in fatal injuries to both.
Fortunately, Piyush, who sustained minor injuries, managed to evade Sajid’s onslaught and raised the alarm, prompting the intervention of the family. However, Sajid had already fled the scene by the time they arrived.
Who was Sajid?
According to available information, Sajid, who was a local barber near the residence of the brothers in the Badaun area, met a fatal end around 10 p.m. in the Shekupur area, approximately 7 km away from the victims’ house. Prashant Kumar, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Uttar Pradesh, stated to media outlets that Sajid was killed in a police encounter after he opened fire on the pursuing officers.
In the aftermath of the boys’ tragic deaths, protestors vandalized Sajid’s shop and set it on fire, along with two other makeshift shops. Additional police forces were deployed to restore order, eventually controlling the situation.
Why did Sajid kill the Minors?
Rakesh Singh, the Inspector General of Police in Bareilly, stated that the motive behind the incident was still under investigation. However, locals in the area informed the police about disputes between the accused and Vinod’s family.
SSP Alok Priyadarshi confirmed the recovery of the murder weapon and a revolver. The FIR filed by the family of the deceased children also implicated the accused’s brother, Javed. SSP Priyadarshi informed the media that efforts were underway to locate and apprehend him soon.
Vinod Kumar, the father of the deceased children, informed the media, “I had no altercation with him. I was away for work when he visited our house. He requested ₹5,000, which my wife gave him. One of my sons managed to escape his assault and alerted his mother.”
There have been claims that Sajid consumed the blood of the deceased children after slitting their throats. However, neither the police nor the family have made any statements regarding this allegation.
Heavy police presence has been established at Baba Colony, near the Mandi Samiti outpost, as residents protested against the horrific double murder. District magistrate Manoj Kumar mentioned that some individuals became agitated following the incident and have been urged to maintain peace.
