The Henley Passport Index recently unveiled a global passport ranking, evaluating the freedom of travel for passport holders. The rankings are determined by the count of destinations accessible without requiring a prior visa, or by offering visa-on-arrival, visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) upon entry.
Henley Passport Index derives its rankings through an analysis of data sourced from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The resulting ‘visa-free score’ represents the number of destinations accessible to passport holders without the need for a pre-arranged visa, including visa-on-arrival and similar permits.
Leading the list are European nations, with France, Germany, Italy, and Spain claiming top positions. Sharing the pinnacle are Japan and Singapore from Asia. Conversely, countries such as Pakistan (101), Iraq (102), Syria (103), and Afghanistan (104) find themselves at the lower end of the index.
