Upendra Singh Rawat, a Member of Parliament of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), has been ruled out of the Lok Sabha Elections. The step was taken after an obscene video of Upendra Singh Rawat went viral on social media.
Upendra Singh Rawat, on the other hand, has denied all the claims regarding the viral video. In a social media post, Upendra Singh Rawat said an edited video of him, which is generated through AI, is going viral on social media and that he has lodged an FIR.
Upendra Singh Rawat Video Controversy
Upendra Singh Rawat has urged the National President to investigate the Deep Fake issue and declared that he will refrain from participating in any public elections until proven innocent. The request follows a complaint filed by MP’s secretary Dinesh Chandra Rawat, leading to the police filing an FIR against an unidentified perpetrator.
The FIR alleges that a manipulated video was circulated to tarnish the MP’s reputation after his candidacy announcement. Rawat, who secured a ticket from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Barabanki, claims that the opposition party fabricated the video to discredit him.
His statement comes shortly after another BJP candidate, Pawan Singh, withdrew from the Lok Sabha polls in the Asansol constituency of West Bengal. Singh, a Bhojpuri singer-actor, withdrew amidst accusations that several of his songs portrayed women, including those from the state, in an indecent manner.
