Ganesh Baraiya has defied all odds to achieve his dream of becoming an MBBS doctor. Baraiya’s journey culminates in the attainment of his MBBS degree, affirming the adage, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Reflecting on the daily challenges stemming from his height, Dr. Baraiya shared that while patients may initially judge him based on his stature, over time, they grow comfortable and acknowledge him as their physician.
He expressed, “When patients first see me, they may be taken aback by my height, but eventually, they accept me, and I reciprocate their initial reactions. They treat me warmly and with optimism.”
Ganesh Baraiya MBBS Journey
At the age of 23, Ganesh Baraiya recounted his journey following his completion of the 12th grade and successful clearance of the National Eligibility Entrance Exam (NEET). Despite passing NEET, Ganesh faced disqualification from pursuing MBBS due to his height.
Undeterred by his three-foot stature, Dr. Baraiya persisted in his determination. He sought assistance from his school principal, reached out to the district collector, engaged with the state education minister, and eventually approached the Gujarat High Court.
Despite an unfavorable ruling in the Gujarat High Court, Dr. Baraiya remained steadfast in his resolve. He pursued his case to the highest judicial authority and emerged victorious in 2018. Reflecting on the outset of his MBBS studies, he noted, “In 2018, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of my admission to the MBBS course.”
With the completion of MBBS admissions in 2018, the Supreme Court stipulated that his enrollment would commence in 2019. Dr. Baraiya secured admission to Government Medical College, Bhavnagar, marking the initiation of his MBBS journey.
