Ansari was transferred from the district jail to Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda in an unconscious state. According to Suneel Kaushal, the principal of the college, he passed away due to cardiac arrest at the hospital.
A five-time MLA from Mau Sadar, Ansari had been imprisoned in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab since 2005, facing over 60 pending criminal cases. On Friday morning, crowds gathered at Ansari’s residence, leading to a significant deployment of security personnel both at the residence and the hospital.
