On the 13th of December, a Wednesday, a bizarre incident unfolded during India’s ongoing Lok Sabha session. Everyone was shocked to witness two individuals emitting yellow smoke, attempting to disrupt the proceedings. One of them was caught by Members of Parliament, brutally beaten, and then handed over to security
It was shocking because everyone was unaware of this protest. All five of them belong to different states, colleges, and different age groups, but the only common link between them is a Facebook page named ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club.
All the intruders are in police custody. They have told the media and police that they planned it to highlight the issues of common people, farmers, education, unemployment, and violence in Manipur. There is only one female among these 6 breach accused, Neelam Azad who raised questions at the Indian Government, using the slogan ‘Tanashahi Band Karo’.
The six accused are Neelam Azam, Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Vicky Sharma, and Lalit Jha. According to sources, Neelam Azam is the oldest among them. The 37-year-old is highly qualified. Her brother told the media that she cracked the National Eligibility Test (NET), has MA and MPhil degrees, and also attempted the HTET but couldn’t pass.
Neelam’s Facebook account says a lot about her, she also participated in Kisan Andolan, and also seems like a Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad’s supporter, as she wished for speedy recovery when he attacked.
News24 talked to her mother Saraswati, who can be seen supporting her daughter, another side Haryana’s Khap Panchayat and Farmers groups also come in support:
Neelam’s mother and brother talked about her qualifications and the challenges she faces in finding a job. Despite being qualified and having cleared the NET, she hasn’t been able to secure a job. They mentioned that she was feeling stressed.
