Fundraisers, which are usually believed to be a trustworthy source to help people in need, have become a new way to scam people. We see several websites promoting crowd-funding for people in need, but now some people have started using the platforms for their unfair means.
One such story has taken the internet by storm, where a girl named Sanchayita Bhattacharjee made accounts on various fundraising websites. Under a fake story of her having cancer, and she even faked her death and accumulated a lot of money.
Sanchayita not only raised funds under her name but also with her friends. But all this ended when one of her real-life friends exposed her and revealed her fake identities.
Who is Sanchayita Bhattacharjee?
There’s not much information about Sanchayita Bhattacharjee, but all that is known is that she is 19 years old. Contrary to her assertions of being a vegan, an orphan, or an Adivasi, it has been exposed that she fabricated these details as part of an online scam.
The controversy took a surprising twist when a friend disclosed that Sanchayita had falsified documents, including a fabricated cancer biopsy report. Going to extreme lengths, she even counterfeited her death, publicly announcing the demise of Sanchayita Ruth Lenin (Murmu), born on February 22, 1996, at the age of 27, on January 9, 2024.
Sanchayita Bhattacharjee reacted in the Matter
Following the exposure of the scam, individuals who had generously contributed to her cause expressed their disappointment, realizing they had been deceived by her fabricated narrative. Subsequently, a wave of people began disclosing the amounts they had donated to her.
Sometime later, Sanchayita, who was supposedly dead, came back to life and shared a story on Instagram. The previously presumed deceased individuals reappeared to elucidate the circumstances of their survival, and Sanchayita’s lawyer father, previously thought to be deceased as well, is now investigating the situation.
