It has been stated that the BJP is expected to form the state’s government shortly after Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena, offered his resignation. Devendra Fadnavis, the leader of BJP, is reportedly planning to become the chief minister of Maharashtra on July 1.
Thackeray announced his resignation
On June 29, Uddhav Thackeray announced his resignation as chief minister of Maharashtra. Soon after the Supreme Court denied the MVA government’s request for a stay on the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly, Uddhav Thackeray made his announcement.
Uddhav Thackeray announced on Facebook Live that he has resigned as the chief minister of Maharashtra minutes after the Supreme Court had mandated a floor test to demonstrate his majority in the state assembly. He said that he would retire from the Legislative Assembly.
Uddhav Thackeray thanked NCP leader Sharad Pawar and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for their support when he announced his decision via video speech.
He further added that to display numbers in a democracy, heads are counted. It doesn’t interest him. Also, he is not interested in playing these games. Later opposition would claim to have brought down the son of Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray.
Devendra Fadnavis, likely to become CM
Devendra Fadnavis, the state’s BJP leader Chandrakant Patil, and other party officials conducted a party meeting at Mumbai’s Taj President hotel.
Following Thackeray’s resignation, sweets were distributed to start the celebration. There were rising slogans in favour of Fadnavis being the next chief executive.

Chandrakant Patil, the state unit president of the BJP, was among the several BJP leaders to congratulate one another on the fall of the Shiv Sena-led MVA government.

Many of them predicted that Mr. Fadnavis would take over as governor soon. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, a former minister and BJP leader, claimed that eventually, the truth won out.
According to BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, Fanavis would return as a Chief Minister of Maharashtra Nitesh Rane. He said that Fadnavis used to consistently promise to come back to the House and it’s time now.
