One of the most-awaited Hindu temples in the UAE has finally been constructed. The temple will be inaugurated today, February 14th, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir was constructed in Abu Dhabi and will be the first stone Hindu temple in the UAE. It is also noted that Dubai’s BAPS temple will be the largest Hindu temple in West Asia.
The BAPS Hindu Temple in Dubai started construction in December 2019, and now, finally, the construction of the temple is complete. It is situated in Abu Dhabi on 27 acres of land. As the temple is ready to be inaugurated, there is news that India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is invited to the inauguration of the temple.
Will PM Narendra Modi inaugurate the BAPS Hindu temple of Dubai?
In December 2023, it was confirmed that PM Narendra Modi would inaugurate the BAPS Hindu temple after its construction. At that time, PM Modi and Swami Ishwarcharandas met each other at the Prime Minister’s residential office, where Swami invited PM Modi, and he graciously accepted the invitation.
In a press conference, BAPS Swaminarayan Santha said that PM Modi will be inaugurating the BAPS Temple on February 14, 2024. The Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of India, Alshaali, stated that they are looking forward to the inauguration on February 14 and that it is going to be a phenomenal monumental day, a special occasion to celebrate tolerance and acceptance, and further strengthen the relationship.
A few days ago, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the grand Ram Mandir of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on January 22, 2024, and now he will inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Temple of Dubai on February 14, 2024.
About BAPS Hindu Temple of Dubai
In 1997, Pramukh Swami Maharaj visited the UAE when he visited a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi and hoped that the temple would bring the country’s culture and religion closer together. After so many years, in 2015, the UAE government announced the decision to provide land in Abu Dhabi for a Hindu temple, and some officials of Abu Dhabi donated the land for the temple. In 2018, the consecration prayer took place in Abu Dhabi.
In 2019, the construction of the temple began, and now, after 4 years, the temple is all set to be inaugurated on February 14, 2024. The temple is constructed on 270 acres of land and is situated in Mureikhah, Abu Dhabi. The temple is constructed with pink sandstone that was sent from Northern Rajasthan, and the temple was constructed according to digital modeling and seismic simulation.
From February 18, 2024, the BAPS Hindu temple will be open to devotees. It is also reported that the temple can host up to 10,000 people, and no steel or concrete has been used in its construction. The temple premises consist of a library, visitor center, library, prayer room, garden, playground, classroom, community center, gift and book shops, food court, and other areas.
As per some reports, the estimated cost of the temple is around 700 crores. It features seven spires and represents each emirate of the country. The construction of the BAPS Hindu Temple in Dubai will surely strengthen relations and friendship between India and the UAE. It will also be a huge honor for India, as the BAPS Hindu temple is expected to be the Middle East’s first traditional Hindu stone temple.
