WPL 2023 Auction: 15 Most Expensive Players List, Smriti Mandhana sold for whopping price

The Women’s Premier League 2023 or WPL 2023 is an upcoming women’s T20 cricket league in India that is owned and operated by the BCCI-Board of Control Cricket in India.

It is the first edition of WPL which will be played in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai with five franchises, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz, taking part in the tournament.

The league will start in March 2023 and as we are inching closer to the starting date of WPL, the first WPL auction is here.

With a salary purse of INR 12 Cr each, every team will be able to pick 15-18 players. For foreign players, INR 50 Lakhs, INR 40 Lakhs, and INR 20 Lakhs are set as the reserved base price while it is INR 10 Lakhs and INR 20 Lakhs for uncapped players.

Smriti Mandhana, India vice-captain, became the first player to go under the hammer at the inaugural WPL 2023 player auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore making a winning bid of a staggering INR 3.4 Cr to bag the southpaw.
