Amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Moscow, the capital city of Russia, experienced a devastating terrorist attack claiming nearly 60 lives. According to reports, multiple gunmen stormed a large concert hall, indiscriminately firing automatic weapons into the crowd.
This attack stands as one of the deadliest in Russia’s history. The Islamic State (ISIS) has asserted responsibility for this heinous act. ISIS, a militant group that once held significant territory in Iraq and Syria, has claimed that its fighters targeted “a large gathering” on the outskirts of Moscow and subsequently retreated to their bases unharmed.
Moscow Terror Attack Casualties
Individuals clad in camouflage attire infiltrated the premises, initiating gunfire and hurling grenades or incendiary devices. According to Russia’s Health Minister, Mikhail Murashko, 115 individuals were admitted to hospitals, including five children, with one child in critical condition. Among the 110 adult patients, 60 were categorized as being in severe condition, he stated.
Ukraine on Russia Terror-Attack
This assault occurred shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin solidified his control over the nation through a meticulously orchestrated electoral landslide. Additionally, speculations were suggesting Ukraine’s involvement in the attack. Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukraine’s president, issued a statement addressing these claims.
Podolyak affirmed, “Let’s be clear: Ukraine had no involvement in these events whatsoever. We are engaged in a full-scale conflict with the Russian regular army and the Russian Federation as a whole. Ultimately, the outcome will be determined on the battlefield.”
World leaders have begun to respond to this attack. Prime Minister Modi expressed, “India stands in solidarity with the government and people of the Russian Federation during this sorrowful period.”
Now the American government has reacted in this matter, stating that the Ukrainian government has nothing to do with this attack in Moscow. Karine Jean-Pierre, Press Secretary of the White House, said this terrorist attack was conducted by ISIS, and President Vladimir Putin understands that. He also condemned the attack and stated, “We continue to strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow.”
