The youngest Member of Parliament of New Zealand, Hana-Rawhiti-Maipi-Clarke is storming over the internet as her video is going viral in which she delivered her first-ever speech and performs the Maori haka in honor of her indigenous roots.
The 21-year-old girl, Hana Rawhiti created history as she is the youngest MP in the last 170 years in New Zealand. She gave out her first speech in December 2023 but now it is all over social media. The youngest MP, Hana Rawhiti Maipi Clarke is a member of the Maori community.
In the inaugural speech, Hana Rawhiti addressed and pledged her commitment to the constituents that ‘She will die for you but will also live for you’. She represented and highlighted the indigenous people and in respect of that, she performed Haka, or war cry. Hana even revised the segment of her Te Petihana anniversary speech.

Hana Rawhiti Maipi Clarke was born in 2002 and presently she is 21 years old and she is also the youngest Member of Parliament in New Zealand. Hana Rawhiti is a native of or belongs to the Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou, Te Āti Awa, and Ngāi Tahu. Hana Rawhiti’s father Potaka Maipi is a broadcaster while her mother’s name and details are not known. As per her Instagram, she has been dating Lance Taitoko for around five years.
Hana has various natives in history and she is the grand-niece of Hana Te Hemara, the Maon language activist. Hana Rawhiti Maipi is the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Wi Katene, the first Maori MP appointed to the Executive council. Hana’s grandfather, Taitimu Maipi is also an activist who led the removal of Captain Hemilton’s statue in 2020.
Hana Rawhiti completed her education at Te Wharekura o Rakasumangamanga in Huntly, Scotland and at the age of 17, she published a book Maahina which is about Maramataka- the madri lunar calendar.
