33-year-old nurse Lucy Letby has been convicted of murdering seven babies and planning to kill six others. Lucy Letby’s youngest victim was a one-year-old kid, and this makes her one of the worst medical serial killers.
Two triplet boys who were identified as babies O and P in court were Lucy Letby’s last victims. In June 2016, just after Letby returned from a vacation in Ibiza, child O passed away, and Child P passed away one day later.
Why did Nurse Lucy Letby Murder Babies
As per several reports, Lucy wanted to capture the attention of an anonymous doctor. The prosecutor suggested that she was having an affair with a married doctor, and he was the first one to be called if anything happened to the babies.
The prosecutor claimed that she wanted to get that anonymous doctor’s attention. Texts shown to the court revealed the pair messaged regularly, swapping love heart emojis, and met up several times outside work, even after Letby was removed from the neonatal unit in July 2016.

The prosecutor claimed that Lucy loved playing God. She would hurt the babies and become the first to inform her coworkers of the child’s failing health. She had the upper hand. She was content with the situation.
She was making predictions about events that she knew were inevitable. She was essentially acting as God, a prosecutor claimed. Letby was twice detained before being let go. She was officially charged after her third arrest in 2020 and was kept in detention.
Police discovered hospital records and a handwritten note on which Letby had written, “I am evil; I did this.” when searching her home.
How did Lucy Letby Murder Babies
The prosecution provided evidence that Letby attacked infants using a variety of techniques. She used to force-feed them an excessive amount of milk or fluids, injecting air and insulin into their bloodstreams, injecting air into their gastrointestinal tracts, and causing impact-type damage.
Letby used different types of methods to kill different babies. She used to deceive her colleagues into believing that the cause of death for all these infants was natural.
But she was cleared on both counts of trying to kill someone. Six other attempted murder counts involving five babies were left undetermined by the jury.
