The superhero film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” or “Black Panther 2” is not in the mood of slowing down. The film has surpassed the $800M mark recently and holds the 6th rank in the list of the highest-grossing films in 2022.
It is directed by Ryan Coogler and bankrolled by Kevin Feige under the banner Marvel Studios. The film was out in theatres on Nov 11, 2022. In India, it was released in all four languages, English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Crosses $800M at the BO WW
As per the Box Office Mojo, Black Panther Wakanda Forever has crossed the $800M (INR 6615 crores approx) mark at the box office, globally which includes $427M (INR 3530 crores approx) in the domestic market and $373M (INR 3084 crores approx) internationally.
With this, it breached past the Doctor Strange 2 domestic earnings of $411M and Thor 4 worldwide biz of $760M. It recently surpassed the box office collection of Thor 4 ($760M) and The Batman ($770M) to become the sixth highest-grossing movie of 2022 at the box office worldwide.
Avatar 2 is giving stiff competition to Black Panther 2
James Cameron’s Avatar 2 is wreaking havoc at the box office currently, the film has crossed the biz of Black Panther 2 to become the 5th highest grossing movie of all time.
Going by the performance of Avatar 2 at the box office, it will easily cross the $1B mark to become the third movie to achieve the feat this year after Top Gun Maverick and Jurassic Park: World Dominion in the long run.
Black Panther 2 Box Office India
Wakanda Forever took a solid double-digit start at the Indian box office. It collected 12.96 Cr on Friday, the film showed further growth of 11.88% on Sat for 14.5 Cr and 1.66% on Sun for 14.74 Cr.
The total 1st-weekend biz stands at 42.1 Cr. After a big Mon drop it is stable on the weekdays, the film faced an over 69% dip in earnings on Mon and minted 4.55 Cr, a further drop of 11.87% for 4.01 Cr. It collected 3.32 Cr on Wed to take the total earnings to over 54 crores.
Black Panther holds well on Thu with a negligible 6% drop in earnings on day 7 taking the total nett collections of the movie to Rs 57 crores. Wakanda Forever clocked in 5.5Cr+ on the 2nd weekend for a total 10 days India cume of 63.16 Cr nett.
Wakanda Forever witnessed a 65.55% drop in its earnings in the 3rd week and a 50% drop in the 4th week taking its total India biz to 71.11 crores nett.
