Kollywood actor Arya starrer Tamil science fiction action film Captain has been released in theaters. It is directed and written by Shakti Soundar Rajan who has earlier directed 5 movies including Naanayam, Naaigal Jaakirathai, Miruthan, Tik Tik Tik and Teddy etc.
The film marks the second collaboration between Arya and director Shakti Soundar Rajan after Teddy, a fantasy action drama film which had its direct OTT released on Disney+Hotstar.
The film was tentatively titled as Arya33 and in November 2021 it got its official title as Captain. The shooting of the film began on October 25, 2021 and it has been shot at various locations around Jammu & Kashmir and Chennai. It was wrapped up on February 13, 2022.

Captain Star Cast
The film stars actor Arya of “Sarpatta Parambarai” fame as Captain Vetri Selven and Aishwarya Lekshmi will play opposite him. She was recently seen in Sai Pallavi starrer Tamil legal drama film Gargi, which she also produced.
Along with the leading star cast, the film also stars Simran as Dr. Keerthi, Kavya Shetty, Harish Uthaman, Raj Bharath, Gokulnath, Thiagarajan, Malavika Avinash, Vincent Asokan and Adithya Menon in prominent roles.
Captain OTT Release Date
Produced by lead actor Arya and T. Kishore under the banners of The Show People and Think Studios, the film was released in theaters on September 8, 2022, coinciding with Onam. It had gotten the U/A Censored Certificate from CBFC (Central Board of Film Certificate).
The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film are acquired by Zee5 and the film is set to premiere on the platform on 30th September, 2022, 3-weeks after the theatre release of the film. So those who haven’t yet watched the film in theatres can watch it online on Zee5 on the mentioned date.

Captain TN & Kerala Theatrical-Distribution Rights
Additionally, the Satellite rights of the film are acquired by Zee Tamil and Zee Thirai. The distribution rights of the film in Tamil Nadu are acquired by Udhayanidhi Stalin under the banner of Red Giant Movies whereas in Kerala the film will be distributed by Riya Shibu’s HR Pictures, which also distributed blockbuster movies like RRR and Vikram.
