There are many reasons for Tamil and Malayalam audiences to rejoice as two of the biggest stars from both cinemas will be appearing together in the upcoming film Kaathal.
We are talking about Mollywood megastar Mammootty and Tamil beauty and wife of actor superstar Suriya, Jyothika. The duo is set to collaborate for the first time in the film directed by “The Great Indian Kitchen” fame Jeo Baby, known for directing films like 2 Penkuttikal, Kunju Daivam, Kilometers and Kilometers, Freedom Fight, etc.
Kaathal Title Announcement & First Look
On October 18, 2022, on the occasion of the 43rd birthday of actress-producer Jyothika, the makers of the film unveiled “Kaathal: The Core” as its title and along with that, they also dropped the first look of the film.
The first look of the film features a picture that looks like an old family photo, the kind that people have on their bedside table. It features Jyothika and Mammootty as a couple posing for a camera, most likely the old-fashioned film camera, to get a photo together.
The photo, apparently carrying marks and grains of an old one stuck in an album, features a younger Mammootty and a decent and smiling Jyothika, and both of them are wearing white outfits.

Star Cast
Megastar Mammootty, who is basking in the success of his Neo-noir psychological thriller film Rorschach, is now all set to play the lead role in Kaathal, which is dubbed as a family drama, while Jyothika is playing opposite him. Kaathal marks the return of the renowned Tamil actress in the Malayalam cinema after the 2009 film Seetha Kalyanam.
Makers
The film is produced by Mammootty under the banner of his production house Mammoottykampany and it is the third production venture of the superstar after Rorschach and Nerathu Mayakkam.
The film is jointly written by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. On the technical front, the film has Salu K. Thomas as cinematographer, Francies Louis as editor, and Mathews Pelickan as the music composer.
