Seththumaan is a drama film, which has received many awards in the film festivals around the world, this long-awaited critically acclaimed film is all set to arrive on the digital platform SonyLIV soon.
It is directed by the Tamiz and bankrolled by the Kabali, Kaala director Pa. Ranjith under his production house Neelam Productions. Tamizh along with the direction also wrote the screenplay of the film.
The story and the dialogue of Seththumaan are written by Perumal Murugan, the film is also said to be based on his famous short story Varugari which means Fried Meat. Seththumaan is said to explore the caste discrimination issue in the country.

Earlier the film was slated to release in theatres, but it seems the makers have skipped the theatrical release as it will going to premiere on the Sony LIV on 27 May 2022.

Recently Pa. Ranjith unveiled a minute teaser on social media platforms on May 11, as per the teaser, the film tells the story of a basket maker named Poochiyappa(Portrayed by Manickam) who fights against all odds in order to make the orphaned Kumaresan (Portrayed by Ashwin) powerful.
The main lead works for Vellappayan (portrayed by Suruli), who is the moody landlord, one day he asked for pork from Poochiyappa, and further, the story leads to cast-based slurs and violence against the poor basket maker.
Star Cast & Crew
Along with Suruli, Manickam, Master. Ashwin who are playing the main part in the film, Prasanna, Kumar, Savithiri, Kannigha, Annamalai, Nagethran and Guru is also said to be seen playing pivotal roles.
On the technical front, Pratheep Kairaja was on board for cinematography, editing is done by C.S. Premkumar and the music is given by
Bindu Malini, the lyrics written by Yugabharathi, Perumal Murugan, and Muthuvel.

The close to a minute teaser explores the strong bond between the grandfather and grandson, half of the teaser shows us the glimpses of how dotingly a grandfather nurtures his grandson in order to make his future bright, Manickam has portrayed the role brilliantly as without uttering a word, the love towards his grandson can be seen in his eyes.
