Acclaimed Tamil director Gautham Vasudev Menon, who is best known for his notable work in superhit movies like Minnale, Vaaranam Aayiram, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Kaakha Kaakha, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, will soon be back with his upcoming Tamil action drama film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The title is a very popular line from a poem by the great Tamil poet Bharathiyar.
The film is written by B. Jeyamohan and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his banner Vels Film International. Along with backing many films, Ganesh had also worked in few movies like Dharma Seelan, Doubles, Aval Paavam, Lakshmi etc. He also did a supporting role in Rajnikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0.
If we talk about technical work, Siddhartha Nuni has served as the director of photography and Anthony has handled the editing while talking about music, it is composed by the legendary musician of Indian cinema A.R. Rahman.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Star Cast
Silambarasan TR, the eldest son of actor/filmmaker T. Rajendar and the elder brother of actor Kuralarasan is playing the male lead as Muthu in the film. He was last seen in Venkat Prabhu directorial Maanaadu, which received a highly positive response and became the actor’s first film to enter the 100 crore club. The film is the fourth highest grossing Tamil film of 2021 after Master, Annaatthe and Doctor.
Actress Siddhi Idnani is playing the female lead and the film marks the 5th project of her acting career behind Grand Hall, Jamba Lakidi Pamba, Prema Katha Chitram 2, Anukunnadi Okati Ayinadi Okati.
Veteran actress Raadhika Sarathkumar, who was recently seen in Tamil drama film Marutha, will play Muthu’s murder. The film features Aangelina Abraham, versatile actor Siddique and Neeraj Madhav as Sridharan.

Earlier, at a press conference held in Chennai, director Ganesh had said that the film was being planned for a theatrical release tentatively on Puthandu (Tamil New Year) on April 14, 2022, but the things didn’t go as per plan due to the late completion of filming. We can expect the announcement from the film’s makers, regarding the release date in the upcoming days.
The shooting of the film began on August 7, 2021 and it was wrapped up on April 15, 2022. It has been majorly shot in Tiruchendur, Chennai, and Mumbai. Silambarasan also announced the wrap up of the film, on social media through a post featuring him pointing a gun somewhere.

While the Tamil trailer has been trending ever since it was dropped, makers have now launched the Telugu trailer of the movie, voiced by Baahubali fame Ramya Krishnan, the Telugu voice-over is written by Tharun Bhasker.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Teaser
The makers of this action thriller drama film released its trailer on December 10, 2021. The 1.5 minute long intriguing teaser features Silambarasan as Muthu, a young man from a village in Tamil Nadu, whose life takes a turn after moving to Mumbai, where he is forced to seek small jobs after the circumstances in his village become unfavorable for farming. He is mistreated in the city which leads him to take up arms to protect himself from exploitation.
