A new improvement came in the Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment paper leak case as the first accused in the case was arrested. It was recently stated that an accused named Neeraj Kumar has been involved in the UP Police recruitment paper leak as he sent the question papers and answer keys to the candidates on Whatsapp.
The arrest of accused Neeraj Kumar came after the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, announced the cancellation of the UP Police Recruitment Examination 2023 and re-examination within six months. On Saturday, February 24, 2024, CM Yogi announced that the STF (Special Task Force) would investigate the case further.
After the announcement made by CM Yogi, it was revealed that the first accused in the UP Police recruitment paper leak had been arrested, and the STF (Special Task Force) is in search of other people involved in the case.
Who is Neeraj Yadav?
The accused in the UP Police recruitment paper leak, Neeraj Yadav, has been arrested, and it is stated that he is a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia and has been arrested for sending the question paper and answer key to the candidates through WhatsApp.
According to a report by NDTV India, the police are also searching for another person who provided Neeraj with the question paper, and he is said to be a native of Mathura. Further investigation in the case is going on, and it is assumed that soon the culprits will be arrested.
On February 19, 2024, it was highlighted that the UP Police recruitment paper was leaked before the exam. A police constable in Lucknow lodged an FIR over a paper leak in his exam center. However, it was stated that the examination took place in two shifts on February 17 and 18, 2024.
What happened in the UP Police Recruitment examination?
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment was held in two shifts on February 17 and 18, 2024, for the post of police constable. Around 48 lakh candidates applied, and 43 lakh candidates appeared for the recruitment examination, including about 16 lakh female candidates for 60,244 vacancies.
However, just a few hours before the exam, it was all over social media that the question paper with the answer had leaked.
On the day of the examination, it was stated by the UPPRPB that the news of the paper leak was fake, as the question papers going viral on social media were fake and were edited. However, it was later stated by the Board that the investigation would take place in the matter as candidates claimed that the question paper was sold for 50,000 to 2 lakhs to students.
On Sunday, February 24, 2024, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released an official statement in which he said that injustice done to youth is a national sin, and they have decided that they will adopt the policy of zero tolerance towards those who play with their lives and the future of the youth and will deal with those elements strictly and harshly.
