SSC JE 2023 Exam Pattern for Paper 1

The SSC JE 2023 Exam Pattern for Paper 1 consists of only objective-type questions. Altogether, there are three sections in the paper: 1. There are 200 questions, each worth 1 point. The candidates will get a composite time of 2 hours to finish the exam. There is a negative marking of 0.25 points for each incorrect response.

Keep in mind that in order to continue in further rounds, applicants must meet the cutoff set by SSC. The marks obtained in SSC JE Paper 1 will be added while preparing the SSC JE 2023 merit list. Candidates can review the exam pattern in the table below.

SSC JE Exam Pattern Paper 1
  • There are a total of 200 multiple-choice questions with a total of 200 marks.
  •   Candidates will have 2 hours to complete the entire section. Note that candidates with scribes will have an extra 40 minutes.
  • There are three sections in total, with a negative marking of 0.25 points for each incorrect response.
  • The general engineering section consists of three parts. Applicants must attempt the general engineering discipline they choose when submitting their applications.
  • The SSC JE syllabus for Paper 1 consists of 3 subjects, which are general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, and general engineering (civil/mechanical/electrical).

SSC JE Exam Pattern for Paper 2
  • Paper 2 consists of only descriptive questions. The mode of the exam is offline. Candidates will get the question paper and answer sheet.
  • The questions are asked in relation to the relevant discipline (civil, mechanical, or electrical).
  • There is no negative marking in this descriptive exam.
  • The SSC JE paper 2 consists of a total of 300 marks, and candidates get 2 hours to finish the paper.
  • The SSC will release the result of paper 2 and a combined result of paper 1 and paper 2. On the basis of the combined result, the merit list will be prepared.

      The SSC JE exam’s paper I is administered online using a computer. The SSC JE Paper-II exam is administered offline using pen and paper.

      Yes, Paper 1 has negative marking, with 0.25 being deducted for each incorrect response. There will be 200 marks in Paper 1 and a total of two hours to finish it.
