Actors like Taapsee Pannu, Riteish Deshmukh and Dia Mirza took to Twitter to share their two cents on the Jamia crackdown. Others like Ajay Devgn said in a public statement that ‘violence is never the answer. “This is a democracy.
The establishment has an opinion, and there are those who do not agree with that opinion. Everyone should have the right to express their opinion. Violence is not the answer. Instead of fighting, things should be settled amicably, so that the aam janta doesn’t suffer”, he added at an event on Monday.

What is happening is not okay. The way it’s happening is not okay. People have every right to peacefully voice their opinion. This violence and disruption is both saddening and concerning as a fellow citizen. In no circumstance, must our faith in democracy be shaken. 🇮🇳

My heart goes out to all the students back home in Delhi. In a democracy like ours, its sad to see violence against citizens for voicing their opinion through peaceful protests. There should be no place for violence of any form & intent in our country. I strongly condemn this act

A democratically elected Govt that creates laws against its own people is following the Nazi Germany model clearly. This government has failed the people of this country. See what is happening on the streets . India is protesting 🇮🇳 You cannot divide us https://t.co/5toqbTkSOS

If this is what’s gonna happen everytime a citizen expresses their view, forget #CAB, we should pass a bill and not call our country a democracy anymore! Beating up innocent human beings for speaking their mind? BARBARIC.

I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest.I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!

Violence is not a tool to make our country better. We are a democracy and we have the power to exercise our fundamental rights in a rightful manner. What the students faced has shaken me and my heart goes out to them and I protest the way the situation was handled.

Yes.
Stand up against divisive politics, against Islamaphobia, against unconstitutional Acts, and state sponsored violence.
Power to the protestors, power to the students. https://t.co/3G37C8LmU2— Jim Sarbh (@jimSarbh) December 16, 2019
What is happening in our country should make us all hang our heads in shame. Shame. Now is the time to come together and act as one nation, one people, one country. NOW.

Most renowned faces in Bollywood industry have taken showcased their agitation and disgust on social media. But it is the A-listers like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar that are being targeted for remaining silent on such a grave matter. The fans are especially angry with Akshay Kumar who’s touted to be the most patriotic hero of all times for staying shut in circumstances like these. They even called him ‘spineless’.
Their fans seem disappointed as the #ShameOnBollywood trended on Twitter this morning.
It’s stupid to expect any tweets from bollywood with respect to sensitive issues . It’s better that they don’t tweet because they possess zero knowledge about it and giving them importance is of no use #ShameonBollywood

Actor Sushant Singh spoke strongly in support of the protesting students and in return the film industry took away his work. The Price you pay for speaking the Truth. #ShameonBollywood

As the Jamia Milia Islamia protests aggravated on Sunday, the university students of the entire nation took to the streets to protest against the BJP-led Central Government. As per reports, the students sat in Jamia Milia College on Sunday to silently protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act when Delhi Police barged in through the gates.
The armed officers attacked with lathi charge and tear gases as the students locked themselves in the library. The viral photos and videos from Jamia University have irked students at other colleges across the country to protest for their fellow students.
Meanwhile, superstar, Akshay Kumar is still on the receiving end of Twitter angst as he ‘accidentally’ liked a tweet that carried a mockery video of Jamia students being beaten up by the police.
