John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi will star in Sanjay Gupta’s next gangster drama film.
Best known for his gangster films, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is returning to his playground after a hiatus of six years. His last gangstar movie was Shootout At Wadala (2013) with John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut and others. In 2017, he directed Rakesh Roshan’s Kaabil which starred Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam.
Sanjay’s next will be a gangster drama and John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi has been roped in. This will be their first film together. While John has worked with Sanjay in Shootout At Wadala, this is Emraan’s first movie with the director.
The movie is inspired by real-life incidents and is set in the 1980s and 1990s. The film traces the evolution of Mumbai from Bombay, major events like shutting down of textile mills, the gang wars, the nexus between the politicians, cops, the underworld and the business fraternity.
Sanjay looks excited to work with John and Emraan as he said in a statement, “It’s my 3rd outing with John and I’m super excited to work with Emraan, I have always wanted to work with him and I am back to my base of film making, gangster dramas and all I can say is, its Good to be home.”
If reports are to be believed then one actor is playing the cop while the other is playing a gangster. The movie will have a cat and mouse game between these two actors. The makers are searching for a female lead.
The yet-untitled gangster film is to be co-produced by Gupta’s White Feather Films and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. More details about the film will be made official soon.
