Malang 2nd Day Box Office Collection: Aditya Roy Kapur And Disha Patani Starrer Malang Had A Decent Opening Weekend, Collects Rs 25.6 Crore In The First Weekend.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani starrer ‘Malang’ had a pretty good opening weekend at the box office. Though the growth over the weekend could have been more, Rs 25.6 crore is a decent opening weekend number for a film which has no big stars. Talking about Sunday, the film saw around 10% growth in the collection compared to Saturday.
After a good growth on Saturday, I was expecting a huge Sunday but that didn’t happen. Actually the film hasn’t performed on the expected lines in mass centres. Talking about occupancy on Sunday, the film remained flat in the night shows probably because today is a working day. The overall occupancy on Sunday was around 40%.
As per early estimates, Malang 3rd day collection is around Rs 10 crore. The total collection at the end of the first weekend is Rs 25.6 crore. For Aditya Roy Kapur, this is the highest opening weekend beating Aashiqui 2, Daawat-E-Ishq and Ok Jaanu. A look at the day-wise box office collection of Malang:
First day collection: Rs 6.71 crore
Second day collection: Rs 8.89 crore
Third day collection: Rs 10 crore (early estimates)
Malang box office: Way ahead
After a decent opening weekend, it all boils down to how Malang performs on weekdays. The box office fate depends on how well it holds on Monday. Generally, films like Malang see a big drop on Monday. Malang would be hoping for a steady run on weekdays as the competition is low. From coming Friday, it has to compete with Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Malang also stars Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu. The film is co-produced by T-Series and Luv Films. The budget of the film is around Rs 60 crore. It needs to collect Rs 70 crore to become a box office hit. It will be average if it crosses Rs 60 crore.
