Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was honoured with WEF Crystal Award in Davos for her stance on the importance of mental health. Talking about depression and anxiety, she said ‘that you are not alone’.
Deepika Padukone was in Davos last night attending the World Economic Forum 2020. The actress, who has been vocal about her tough battle with depression, was honoured with the Crystal Award for her contribution to the field of mental health. She was lauded for going public with the depression issues that plagued not only her career but also her personal life.
As Deepika took to the stage to receive her award, she said “Mental illness has presented us all with a very tough challenge, but in my love-hate relationship with the illness has taught me much. To be patient for one, that you are not alone, but most importantly that there is hope. For in the words of Martin Luther King, everything that is done in this world is done with hope,”. Fierce Deepika talked about how her mental illness gave birth to her new-self who is more confident, vocal and stronger than ever.

The ‘Chhapaak’ actress runs the Mumbai-based Live Love laugh Foundation that works towards the welfare of patients suffering from mental illness. Deepika’s NGO works with the primary motive to remove the stigma surrounding depression and mental illness. The NGO is actively involved in helping those suffering from mental issues with lectures, research programs, training sessions and lectures.

The World Economic Forum 2020 is being attended by over 100 Indian CEOs and several Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone at the Swiss Ski Resort Town of Davos. They are there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the WEF Annual Meeting that is being organized with the agenda to discuss the necessary steps to be taken to make it a ‘cohesive and sustainable world’.
