The Kannada film Kantara was released on Sept 30 to rave reviews from critics and the audience alike. The film has emerged as a smash hit and is still doing stupendous business at the box office.
It received a lot of accolades for the direction, story, cinematography, production design, the performance of the main lead (especially Rishab Shetty), and proper showcasing of the traditional native cultures Bhoota Kola, Kambala, and Yakshagana.

Kantara OTT Release Date
Kantara is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Nov 24 onwards in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil languages. Now Hindi audiences’ wait is also over as Rishabh himself has announced the date ‘9th Dec 2022’ and the Hindi version will be available on Netflix.

Kantara a Pan-India success
The positive reviews have been pouring in ever since Kantara hit the theatres. The small film had taken a decent start at the box office and further with word of mouth coming into play it saw its biz grow leaps and bounds.
Following the success of the Kannada version, it was released in dubbed languages in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The film has become successful in all versions crossing 403 crores gross worldwide.

Kantara Crosses 400 Cr WW
Kantara opened on a decent note at the box office and saw an increase in its earnings in the coming days due to positive audience word of mouth. It is a small film made on a budget of Rs 10-15 crores and has grossed over 382 crores at the box office worldwide in 49 days.
And as per recent reports, it has crossed the 400 crore milestone in the 8th week and eying to end its run with a 415-420 crore lifetime. It has turned out to be a huge success for the makers in terms of ROI, Hombale films who is also behind the blockbuster KGF franchise.
2022 has been the year of the Kannada cinema, it has delivered big-money spinners like James, KGF2, Vikrant Rona, 777 Charlie and now Kantara. The latter has become an all-time blockbuster in terms of return on investment.
