Annaatthe Release Date, Star Cast, OTT, Budget, Trailer & More
Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated movie Annaatthe/Peddanna won the Box Office Battle, done around 250 Cr business worldwide. The film is helmed by Siva aka Siruthai Siva whose last film Viswasam (2019) was a blockbuster at the box office, it grossed approx. Rs 190 crores.
All About the movie
It is an action drama based in a rural area, produced by Kalanithi Maran, made under the banner of production studio Sun Pictures. The story, Screenplay, was written by Director Siva himself.
Bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran, and Vetri is the cinematographer, and the post-production done by Ruben who is the editor of the film. Initially, it was scheduled to release during Dussehra 2020 but postponed indefinitely owing to the surge of covid-19 cases in India.
Release Date & First Look
Sun Pictures on 25 Jan 2021 announced the release date of the film on its official Twitter handle. The announcement alone got 44k likes in the post, we can feel the buzz already. It was released on November 4, 2021, during Diwali. Now streaming on Netflix and Sun NXT.

Star Cast of Annaatthe
It has an ensemble star cast featuring:
- Rajinikanth as a lead role,
- South actresses Meena & Khusbhu as a lady lead opposite Rajinikanth,
- Reportedly, Keerthy Suresh will play the daughter’s role of Rajinikanth.
- Nayanthara as a lawyer,
- Jagapathi Babu will be an antagonist in the film.
The film stars Prakash Raj, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori, Sathish, George Maryan, Arjai, Thavasi, Kabali Vishwanath, Abhimanyu Singh also featuring in the film. Apparently, earlier Jackie Shroff was to play the villain’s role in the film but was replaced by Jagapathi Babu who has featured in around 160 films of south India. However, Jackie’s reason for replacement is unknown.
Motion Poster Annaatthe
On 10 Sept 2021 distributor Sun TV launched the motion poster of the film on its official YouTube channel. It reached around 60 lakh views with 3.4 lakh likes. Featuring Rajinikanth on a bike with the deadly explosion behind him. Fans are really excited and looking forward to watching the movie in cinemas.
Annaatthe Budget & Songs
According to a report of Hindustan Times Superstar Rajinikanth signed for this movie on Rs 108 crores but later Sun TV’s Kalanithi Maran persuaded him to cut his salary in half seeing his last two movies failures at the box office, later Rajini signed the deal at 58 crores. The film is expected to be made of a 100-110 crores budget, though the makers haven’t disclosed anything on budget.
Filming started on 11 Dec 2019 and wrapped up in July 2021. Reportedly there are five songs in the movie, composed by D. Imam. The first single of the movie was released on Oct 4, 2021. Voice has given by the legendary singer, Padma Vibhushan awardee S.P Balasubhramanyam.
